Abstract
The rapidly changing social, economic and cultural conditions of the past few decades has met with the formation of collective counter-demands,new modes of resistance and disrespect , which is dramatically intensifying the contradictions around which urban social movements have been rallying. And what is more, it will affect the artistic, cultural and political actions to respond to economic assumptions and to shape the post-industrial city. And the reson for me to pay more attention to those course is that I can learn much more from the way to deal with the relationship between artist, culture, polity and the post-industrial city. In this way, a better understanding can be well held through my major, interior design, which also can make the piece of work more meaningful and useful in the future. And I found those resources which formed my essay from Glasgow libraries, Fine Art and Design libraries, website, stv, newspapers and so on. An index will be followed this essay later. The whole essay will use the thematic approaches to explain every theme. That is to say there are 4 themes and each theme will have a separate time-span according to its school thoughts.
1.Social phenomenon
The changing of the social formed the post-industrial city is one of the reasons to cause the resistance and disrespect
Here first I want to define the post-industrial city as below in my opinion: it is characterized by large areas of office blocks and buildings for local government administration .It is often exhibit marked inequality of income distribution because of the contrasts between those who are appropriately skilled—professionals, managers, administrators, and those in high technology service industries—and the poorly paid service workers who look after their needs, together with the unemployed. The former can afford high house prices, and, in fact, contribute to them; the latter cannot.
In this case, of course, the formation of collective counter-demands comes out spontaneously. One example of the urban social movement happened in Glasgow that thousands of people including politicians, trade unionists and faith group members turned out for marches against government cuts in Glasgow and Aberdeen on Saturday in order to avoid recession, rising poverty and damaging cuts in services. If the social developed and formed the post-industrial city but why it can’t serve for people and cause the phenomenon of resistance and disrespect?
2.Economic phenomenon
The changing of the economic formed the post-communist economic control is one of the second reasons to cause the resistance and disrespect .
3. Cultural phenomenon
The changing of the cultural conditions formed the multi-cutural cities is one of the third reasons to cause the resistance and disrespect
4.How artistic, cultural and political actions have responded to those phenomenons?
When it comes to the respondence ,I want to mention two famous riots both in French and Glasgow.
